Regarding Monuments ...

Specifications: Monuments must be placed on a permanent foundation consisting of poured concrete to a depth of 24 to 30 inches below grade. Temporary foundations consisting of gravel must be made permanent when the last burial in a vault takes place. The cemetery does not provide foundations.

Process: A lot owner wishing to install a monument will work with a monument company to choose a monument design and size. The monument company will contact the cemetery with sizes. The cemetery will mark the monument for placement for a small fee (currently $25). The monument company of choice or a designated contractor will excavate and pour a concrete foundation. The foundation must cure for several weeks prior to placement of the monument by the monument company.

Maintenance: Many people are under the misconception that the monument is maintained by the cemetery. The cemetery is only responsible for the monument if the cemetery were to damage the monument. The monument owner is responsible for maintenance required for the monument and its foundation.
